I’ve said it once, I’ll say it a million more times – There is nothing quite like the Caribbean. The kind people, the delicious cuisine, the rich culture and the clear turquoise water surrounding all of the islands. It’s one of my favorite regions in the world and I’m lucky to be able to say that, so far, I’ve explored over 15 countries in the Caribbean Sea.
A couple of weeks ago, I bumped that number up to 16 when I traveled to the Cayman Islands with The Westin Seven Mile Beach to celebrate the hotel’s completed renovation.
I’ve only heard great things about Grand Cayman and, after spending a few nights on the country’s biggest island, I can without a doubt corroborate that both Grand Cayman and The Westin are nothing short of spectacular.
Upon arrival at the hotel, I was greeted with so many friendly, smiling faces and taken straight to my beautiful room. I stayed in the Ocean View room, which was incredibly roomy with a living area, large desk, oversized King bed and a beautiful bathroom.
the most artistic & delicious welcome treat!
The best part, though? The views of the ocean and pool.
From the second I stepped onto my private balcony and looked outside, I could not wait to get into that turquoise water.
So, that’s exactly what I did!
The first water activity I did was swim with stingrays. Don’t worry – it’s way less scary than you think. This species of stingray is completely and totally harmless. Not only will they not hurt you, they’ll actually play and cuddle with you!
The next thing we did in the water was a combination jetskiing/snorkeling excursion, which turned out to be one of my favorite activities of all time.
We stored snorkeling gear in our jet ski’s compartments, hopped on and drove out to two different snorkeling spots. Once there, we put on our snorkeling gear and jumped straight in! It was such a fun, adventurous activity unlike anything I’ve ever done. Plus, the fish and coral reefs under the surface were incredibly colorful and beautiful.
