Brunch at Bar Primi this past weekend was one of the best NYC brunch experiences I’ve had.
Not only was the food delicious, but the weather was beautiful (been a while, New York). Everyone knows a yummy outdoor brunch and endless Bloody Mary’s surrounded by your best friends automatically means good vibes and a happy day.
Obviously the first thing we did upon sitting down was order a pitcher of mimosa and …
Bloody Mary
Garnished with an olive, a hot pepper and mortadella.
A plate of formaggi
Served with Italian honey and apricot jam. The cheeses were taleggio, pecorino sardo, la tur and gorgonzola.
Ricotta Bruschetta
Topped with truffle honey, walnuts and rosemary.
San Daniele Proscuitto with Mozzarella di Bufala
For main dishes, my friend ordered the
Breakfast Spaghetti
The waiter told us it is one of Bar Primi’s most popular dishes and it’s no wonder. The spaghetti was topped with kale, crispy pancetta and a perfectly poached egg.
As for my order …
Uovo Fritto
With roasted mushrooms, cipolini and polenta. I am always, always drawn to brunch dishes with baked eggs and polenta, so this was an obvious order for me. So rich and flavorful … YUM.
My friends ordered:
Italian Benedict
A twist on the traditional Eggs Benedict, Bar Primi’s is served with parma ham and a tomato hollandaise on focaccia bread. He loved it and I loved the unique look of the tomato hollandaise.
Pomodoro Baked Eggs
With mozzarella and grilled toast. I had high hopes and expectations for this one, but the tomato sauce turned out to be a bit watery.
Scrambled Egg Crostino
(On the left) with lump crab and spicy garlic cream.
It was an absolutely amazing brunch! I will be definitely be back to Bar Primi soon to try out their dinner menu.
